Rainy Season

Well, it hasn't rained every day but the threat of rain often screws my plans. It's a weird feeling living in a foreign country and realizing that you have a routine. It's easy to get caught up in. It's also time to make some new friends. Many of the people who I have met over here are finishing up their time and shipping out. I've been searching for 'my crowd.' I found this really cool cafe/bar type thing where the back wall is lined with CD's and LP's- my kind of place. The joy of solitude is beginning to wane so onto more adventures!

Has the MJ news finally died down yet? Finding it interesting how we've slammed him for the last 20 years, but now all of a sudden we are deeply saddened by his death. At any rate, 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller' are still milestones in the pop culture fabric.

  1. Hooray for Vangelis and the brilliant Blade Runner sound track. It's a quite fitting cyberpunk film for your location. How's Idoru? William Gibson seems pretty highly regarded. I began reading Count Zero and enjoyed it but I ran out of time and had to return it to the library. Less than a month and a half and I'll be shipping out to Naippon!

  3. Hey Ian -
Please don't even dare complain of rain! It rained almost every day the month of June. July has been pretty nice so far, though. Missed you at Aunt Laurie's 4th Party.
The MJ thing still going strong -
THE HARD DRIVE IS COMPLETE! I gave your dad
a copy of it last week and everything appears to be working well with a few minor MP-3 glitches. A year long project!
Just saw the New Harry Potter movie - not as good as the last, but still quite good and
necessary to continue the story. Looking forward to vacationing with your folks, and
that's about all that's new here - Oh, your Aunt Marilyn's doctorate program is going well also. She's very busy, but really enjoying it.
